Episode 17 features Chris Lehecka, the Director at the Salina YMCA, and one of the Co-Race Directors, as well as one of the founders/creators for the Salina Crossroads Marathon.
The Salina Crossroads Marathon began in 2022 with 800 racers - that number growing to 3,000 racers in 2023 with participants from all 50 states, having north of a million-dollar economic impact to Salina in that year alone. The event offers a variety of race distances including the Marathon, Half Marathon, Team Relays, 5K Run, 5K Walk, and a Kids Fun Run. 100% of the proceeds from this race goes back into the Salina community helping youth sports.
Watch and listen as Chris shares about his inspiration for starting the Salina Cross Roads Marathon, his journey to being the current Director at the YMCA here in Salina, and his path to becoming an ultramarathon runner, running in races that cover up to 100 miles in distance.
